The mission of Middlebury Elementary School, a collaborative community in which everyone is a learner, is to provide an environment that values and encourages curiosity, creativity and critical thinking as a path to the development of individuals who think deeply and take responsible actions to enhance their local and global communities.
Learn More About the School:
Students at PHS designed and built an electric car to compete against other schools in the statewide ElectroThon competition. Under the direction of PHS teacher Nick Napoli, the club is a comprehensive learning experience that provides a hands-on opportunity for students to learn STEM principles and have fun at the same time.
Students displayed their car at the BOE meeting earlier this week, sharing how the club was formed, how the car was built, and how the competition works. The students raced against other cars from schools across the state in October at the ElectroThon race at Lime Rock Park in Salisbury, CT. A race where the winner is determined by how far the car goes on battery power. The club will be incorporated into the curriculum through the transportation technology course next year.
